Children’s Corner

I began writing children’s stories in 2006. While it was not my first children’s story, “Just Right for Now” received an Honorable Mention in Writer’s Digest’s 2007 Writing Competition in the Children’s Fiction Category.

“Just Right for Now” - The story is about a middle child who feels he doesn’t fit in: he is either too big or too little. The story won an Honorable Mention in Writer’s Digest 2007 Writing Competition in the CHildren’s Fiction Category. Skipping Stones published the story in its November/December 2011 issue.

“Just the Same in Different Ways” - The story is about two girls who meet in the office of their new school and discover that while they are very different in the way they look and in their family backgrounds, they also have a lot in common. Primary Treasure and Primary Pal published the story.

“The Little Circus Car” - The story is about a little girl who makes a bad choice by taking a circus car without paying for it. She learns that it is never too late to make a good choice by telling the truth and asking for forgiveness. Barefoot for Kids and Our Little Friend published the story.

“A New Home” - The story is about a little girl’s friendship with an elderly neighbor, and how together they help the little girl deal with her sadness of leaving her home country Jamaica. Sparkle and Skipping Stones published the story. Also published as “The Seedling” in Primary Pal.

“The Princess Party” - The story is about a little boy who resists going to his friend’s princess party, but learns he can have fun playing the games and eating the treats at a “girls’ party.” Our Little Friend published the story.

“The Snowsantas Find the Christmas Spirit” - The story is about how a church regains its Christmas spirit the baby Jesus doll is stolen from the Nativity Scene. Spirituality for Today published the story.
